Work and career are very important to men. Men derive so much of their self-respect from their work. Think about it:
You and a buddy get paired up with another twosome on the golf course. You play a couple of holes, and on the 3rd teebox, one of you finally decides to break the ice. To one of the guys you don’t know, you ask a “get to know you” question. What question to you ask? “What do you do?” Right? Not, “Where did you get them pants?” Not, “How many kids to you have?” Not, “What did you dream about last night?” No. “What do you do?” Work is important to us.
