In the old days, a traveling preacher would hire a young boy to hide in the rafters with a caged dove. At the pinnacle of his appeal, the boy would release the dove, the symbol for the Holy Spirit, on cue and it would fly down in the church with great effect.
One day, the preacher yelled, “Holy Spirit, come down!” Nothing happened. He tried again, a little louder, “Holy Spirit, come down!”
A throat was cleared in the rafters, and then a little voice said, “Preacher, a big yellow cat just ate the Holy Spirit. You want me to throw down the cat?”
